Solar Panel Roll

Satellites stay in place as they orbit because of....the repeated firings of booster rockets, the gravitational pull of Earth, a narrow path through the vacuum of space, or Solar Panels generating heat to hold them in place???
Which of these BEST illustrates the principal of inertia??? Steve throws a ball straight uo and noticesit slowing down, Emily asks for a push to get started on the swing, or when Dave throws a bowling ball, it does not bounce as high as a basketball dropped from the same height???
Which of the following has an effect on both static and sliding friction? The speed of the objects in contact, the velocity of the objects n contact, the force applied to the object at rest, or the force pressign the objects together???
Which change best demostrates the GREATEST effect of inertia? A car makes a sudden stop, the car slows down gradually, a car changes lanes, or the car runs out of gas and rolls to a stop???
1) The gravitational pull of the Earth. This is also why the moon stays in orbit around the planet. This is done by the satellite moving in a way that the speed at which is falls matches the rate at which the curve of the earth falls away from the satellite.
2) Throwing the ball up in a straight line. Inertia is a property of matter that states if it is moved in a straight line it will continue to move in a straight line unless acted upon by an outside force.
3) The force pressing the objects together. Friction is the force of two objects in contact.
4) The car changing lanes. This is the object moving in an otherwise straight line until an outside force changes it. In this case, changing the direction of the wheels changes the friction of the wheels on the road surface, thus the car will move in the direction presenting the least resistance for movement.
